btw, not as imprtant here... but piers to the east line size is extremely important on gold hook rigs... i use 4 or 6 lb floro on my gold hooks... and it makes a huges difference with cigs.....

also i like to use as small of a weight as possible... normally 1/4 ounce
Give a googan a king, and he can eat for a day. But teach a googan how to kingfish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years

I was using 4lb Pline green mono and 1/2 oz weight. I thought about going to a larger reel after a remora bit my rig Saturday and nearly spooled me. I had never heard of a remora hitting a sabiki before.

Ok guys, I will probably pick those up down there. Let J&M show me what to get!

One last question. What length rod should I get? I said 7-6 but have no problem going longer. Would 8' or even 9' be better?

[font=comic sans ms][size=12pt]I would go with the 7’ 6” or 8’ for a King rod. The best advice I can give you is to go to J & M Tackle when you get down here and tell the experts what kind of fishing you want to do. I guarantee you that they will match you up with what you need. J & M has the best selection of combos in all price ranges I have seen anywhere including BPS.
Their advice and products are rock solid; and the advice is free!

I do plan on making a stop at J & M. I have a part time job at BPS here im Memphis so the discount is why I am kinda married to here on my bigger purchases. Again Fin thanks for the advice!

+1 to check out the rods @ J&M.
You can 'feel' for yourself which one is right FOR YOU!
And I can personally attest that BPS doesn't have any combos for a better price than J&M ??? :headbang:
