Yep, I'm afraid my early April pick is looking better and better---if it weren't for the custom rod, I'd hope it was way late.

Just because the water temperature spiked up to 65 degrees at 42012 doesn't mean a thing really.
In fact it's already dropped back down several degrees...

And after this end-of-the-week-warm-up (to about average for the date) the (air) temps will again fall below average next week :-(
The climatic trend for the whole winter has been below average temperatures.
As long as that trend continues fish migrations and such will be 'behind' schedule.
Another way to consider this is 'with the math'.
When looking at the buoy data check out the "previous 24 hour observations table"
and calculate the average temperature either by median or mean...

If I had to assign ONE number to describe the water temp I would simply tell folks "it's about 63 degrees." ;-)

    Hope this helps!

I read our local watering hole is open water now.... so time to dig out the boat and freeze my buns off, even if it's nice and warm out that 35-36 degree water sure makes you cold when it's all around you. add a little wind....but that is when the big'uns bite....ice-out

    Whadup? (or rather down ;-)

Water temp has slipped back a couple of degrees (86 avg to 84 avg)...
    (RETIRED) mostly.
