Gotta have a flag pole!
Need a pump and hose to fill it with Gulf water without a bucket on a rope.

Re: Ultimate Peir Cart
Some good suggestions so far.
TopPop, Rod security should be addressed, not really for the pier but for when you stop at a store. I have about 100 different ideas ranging from extreme to just using a steel cable. Pier#r, I never thought of just using an alarm. I will investigate that idea to see what I can come up with. When you say trunk if you mean dry storage then yes it will have that.
1KAW, I know it is sad but I can't find a picture of it. Hopefully someone on here has a good picture. Just to give you some idea here are the features: 35 gallon bait well, 550gpm recirculation pump, filtration system with for bait tank with another 550gpm pump, add-on oxygenation system, 1.5 cubic foot dry storage, 12 volt battery, 15 amp converter (the battery and the converter are wired so that when the converter is powered the battery is automatically disconnected). 12v socket (charging phones, etc.), and a marine grade AM/FM radio with weather bands and aux inputs for ipods etc. all of this was installed on a two tier poly cart. The wheels were upgraded to pnematics with stainless steel sealed bearings to make it easier to roll when full. I might have missed something but that gives you an idea of what I mean by over the top.
SSG, I am with OPP on the whole sand thing. I just can't stand the stuff. As for the slide outs, That seems like a good idea. I was going to put one on the cart I have now but ran into a few problems on the design. I will revisit the idea in this build.
Fin, I saw your flag this past weekend and was thinking about it. Not sure what flag I would fly though. The pump for gulf water will me a requirement for the new cart. Also, do you have a good picture of the cart I have now you could post? I know it sounds crazy but I just looked and can't find one.

Re: Ultimate Peir Cart
I'm thinking that that the more you intend to include on a cart the more the weight goes up. At some point I would have to consider putting brakes on it and possiblely even making it self propelled. It is a long incline on the ramp from the parking lot to the pier shack. Being able to stop on the ramp would be a plus coming up or down.

Re: Ultimate Peir Cart
I will try and have pictures posted by the end of the week.
DRH, You are right about the weight. The cart I have now is already heavy enough coming up and down. I have thought about motorizing my new one many times just have not come up with a good design as of yet. It would be based on wheelchair motors, which have an integrated braking system.

Re: Ultimate Peir Cart
A different thought.... what about a A frame hoist in the Pier Parking lot for lifting, loading and unLoading the Cart?

Re: Ultimate Peir Cart
An A-frame in the parking lot would be a poor idea. Aside from liability issues, it would encourage too many to create pier carts that would be over the top in size. The pier gets fairly packed with regular sized carts at times already. I could only image how it would be with pier carts the size of NASCAR pit boxes. Let having to load and unload carts manually be a limiting factor and there will be many who decide that so big is big enough. Sanity can be aceived without the benefit of addition regulations. Build an A-frame and you will have regulations on the use of it, then eventually regulations on what is acceptable as a pier cart will more than likely follow.

Educate me a little bit if you will. What are good turbidity numbers? If you can check those stats and determine what the water looks like before you go, that would be VERY helpful!
