For future visits, if you get the bug as bad as I did, you may want to look into getting some crimped nylon from These guys. You can buy it in small quantities from fly shops, etc., but it gets expensive quick. You have to call for prices and to place your order but they are real good people to deal with.

I am seeing that i maybe better with the nylon and will look into it. Yeah i got the bug bad. Started with a ice fishing guide looking for a new jig so i got asked this winter. Now I own 3 molds a bottom lead pot about 20 colors of powder paint. Then there came bucktails. This sure is fun.
Also wondering what thread are u using for tieing? I am still trying to find one i like. Just bought rod thread but it'sto thick for the smaller jigs. So far i have been using normal fly size thread it works just takes a lot to build it up.Last edited by carpaquack; 04-04-2017 at 09:12 PM.

Just so you know, harbor freight has a few colors of powder paint and it's cheap. I use the white and mix it with the expensive stuff to make it go further. I got lucky awhile back and found an industrial size spool of white 00 nylon thread at a thrift store that should last me forever. It works great for wrapping smaller jigs but it's a little light for cobia jigs. I use sharpies to color it. Only problem is the super glue I seal them with changes the yellow and chartreuse ink to red.
You'll want to make one of these fluid beds too if you haven't already. They make it easy to get a light, even coat of powder on your jig heads. There are several videos on youtube for making them.

Anybody still make the old sidewinder jig with the hook 90degrees to the side? Can you buy a mold for it or for the hexhead jigs?

Bamafig do you have any pics of those?
Do it molds is the main maker of mold for home use. There are a few other brands out there just don't see them much. So maybe someone has something close.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
