....sounds like they were shark fishing and should have been removed from the pier or banned.....
Sounds like they didn't have a clue. Removed or banned? They weren't the only clueless party involved. They shouldn't have been allowed to enter the pier with the gear described.

Well, they obviously can't read because the sign on the gate to the pier clearly states no reels over 4/0 in size allowed on the pier. Then the signs clearly stating no bottom fishing. :violent
The clueless probably don't know what a 4/0 is. Both parties of clueless, that is. I have noticed that one of the signs mentions something about a 4.0 reel, so the signs also add to the confusion. Besides that there are too many signs on the pier. If someone who's on vacation doesn't take the time to read signs telling them what to do and what not to do, I personally can't fault them.

also that park ranger guy with 80lbs of rent a cop chit on his belt should do something about it but he was to worried about what the pier rat kids was doing...
Now, that's a funny picture of yet another clueless player in this fiasco.

i would have been more entertained by helping him rig to hook a jack and watching then me hooking a jack...jmho

I like the way you think Steve. Come on people, how hard must it have been to work a fish around them? Not too much of a problem when compared to other obstacles we face fighting a fish. I can't imagine the big bottom rig making a cast of any significant distance, so the line isn't much of any issue. The rig was probably not too mobile, so it was probably stationary. If I need to get around someone else and their gear, I'd rather go around them than have them move, since I know where I need or at least want to go and can't depend on others to move the way I want them to.

i really guess it comes from fishing piers with little or no rules or few rules...fishing around stationary tackle or sightseers does not bother the old heads or the more experienced as that is the way we grew up fishing..if i had a sail or a huge cobe i may get a little irratated but losing a jack or a mackeral is not going to hurt my feelings, i usually hand the rod off after i get thru with the customary hookup hollering anyway..i get more irratated at the resident tourans with the saltlife shirts and the 706's that think the know what is going on.. the back in the day guys from the 1990's...

Well crap. I guess now I have to get rid of my Salt Life shirt along with the Guy Harvey stuff.

The salt life stuff always cracks me up. It's like hunters who have to show you how serious they are by putting camo pattern on everything they own. I want to make one that has potato chips under the logo instead of a sea turtle or fish.

this guy in the green had out 4 rods and a bait bucket tied to the end of the pier and was a prick when asked to move.

    Re: Super googans

Looked like a perfect opportunity for a "oops, my bad" cast followed by a "sorry man, I can't seem to get it together" cast or just don't let it bother you since it's at the bait hole. A straight drop is all you need to catch all the bait you need, he's not really in your way and in given time some other googan will make the errant cast for you.
