Though not as bad as using a spinning rig incorrectly... Watching someone try to reel up a double bottom rig with two pounds of squid on it and the drag wide open cracks me up. My daughter actually walked over and showed a man this past summer how to tighten the drag down. He just kept reeling and reeling and reeling.

Another problem is when parents, fishing the shallows, allow their young boys to run to the octi (unsupervised) to get in on a “run” of bull reds. This can lead to the most dreaded slang term, the “carpet weave”. When there are multiple hook-ups and people still cast over you, under you, next to you. Everyone’s line gets fouled up.

    I'm going to go with....

Axe Handle = Overly heavy rod that doesn't cast worth a damn
In The Pit = In the middle of fighting a fish

j/k Large spanish mackerel with a tail as big as an axe handle.
"In the pit" is a call to arms that Todd has just made a cast from the octi

if #r says Spanish then I was close.. Lol... If I we're guessing "in the pit" I'd have to agree with chillinfish on the Octi on a cobia or king run
