Great people and you can get the right set-up you need for the pier with their help and for a good price.
As long as you are making the trip and plan to fish the pier either bring or buy a set-up for kings, reds, or jacks.
One day of watching those be caught and you will be glad you did.
After a day of being on the pier you can always buy what you think you need the rest of the week.
Fishing up here doesn't have the excitement you get on the pier even if it is the guy next to you hooking up.
Wow we're almost neighbors, I'm in St. Charles. My Mom and Step dad are at that Cabela's a couple times a week. You're not a member of the Arlington Anglers are you? Where do you fish locally? Good input on gearing up down there. I've been salt water fishing under 5 times but each time I absolutely loved it. I cannot wait to spend a week doing it. You're completely right in that it is a completely different animal!
