i never thought about the pier as a "secret fishing report" kinda place. i fish rivers and streams that i don't speak about because of the small size of the areas and fewer fish. i always figure that if i read a report from the pier, the fish are gone by the time i get there anyways.

Swarms of people adds to the excitement and caos at the rail, something I enjoy sharing with others....plenty of fish to go around.
I was pleaded with on the pensacola pier not to post a catching report just for that fact....the locals over there wantedto keep it for themselves....no report was made, I try and get along

I've been posting my pier fishing reports on the www for over 20 years now.
A good bit of that time with pictures included ;-)
And can with certainty there are not really many more fishermen than there were more than 20 years ago, but many who are there are maybe better 'educated'.
Especially the new arrivals who have had an opportunity to 'read and see how fishing is accomplished' on the pier so they 'fit in' better.
That makes it easier and more enjoyable for everyone.

Ironman, I too wish we could get more reports. I caught a king this past Saturday and my son's called within an hour to tell me t picture was already on Facebook. I didn't post it. In addition, my son has tried to get plugged into the forum only to be told "you are spam" when he tries to set up a name and password. What can be done about that? Are we at our limit for forum members?

    Thanks.

    Thanks Pier#r,
I am one of the “new arrivals” to the Pier Fishing experience. I learned a lot on this forum before spending a few days on the pier in April. Learned a lot from Ironman172 and Chillinfish as they gave me lots of pointers on edicate, tackle, and procedures. I quickly figured out that the best way to learn about pier fishing is to be on the pier!!! Looking forward to coming back down in the fall. I think I have contacted “pier fever”.
If I’m not working on my new pier cart and tackle I’m thinking about it....

I am going thru a divorce and until I can get her out of the house have to stay in Pcola thats why I have been giving reports from out of the area. I miss the people but not the sharks. Flipper sucks sometimes but not near as bad as sharks.

There is no cure, only painful withdrawal and great memories. And a few fish in the freezer. Feed your addiction!
