I have a Lews 600 reel any suggestions on a rod. I plan on using this rig as a general purpose rod. Wanting to hook into something big hopefully.

I saw several new rods this spring that had large OD boat guides for the stripper and 2nd guide - and then the high rise Fuji single foot to the choker - looked sharp. I'm gonna wrap a few before fall to see how they do. I would imagine it's a cost factor cause the big diameter high rise are big $$.
Good times, Good friends, Great Beer. You can buy all three - But it's always better to invest the time to make your own.

What's your price point for a rod?
look for something in the 15#-25# class at about 9 to 12 feet...

Yes it is Pier#r, held 400 yards of 20lb braid
Pricewise 125ish maybe?? I don't know. If it grabs my attention and it's over 125 I'll probably have to buy it.

That's a pretty good budget to get you a decent rod.
Shop around ;-)
This thread should give you some ideas...
Best surf (conventional) casting rod under $150.00 - Main Forum - SurfTalk
Since you're running 20# braid you may want to concentrate on the 15#-30# class for throwing 1 to 5 ounces like the Bass Pro Offshore Angler 11 foot Powerstik...

You may find the 12 footers in the 20# -40# class a bit stiff and heavy for that reel.

Holy snapper those are out of my price range just by a little bit. St. Croix don't mess around. I think I'm going to stop by a bass pro on the way down.
I think Ill start a go fund me or a fundraiser.

I understand someone might want to build a rod just because but I have found I can buy a pre built rod just as cheap or cheaper. I have some custom built rods but I am not sure why.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
