Might I add that an $800 VS reel (distinctively styled) might make it a crime target for those late-night walks back from a jetty to a dark parking lot. Old guys like me get paranoid with age like a 10 point buck. I've seen young guys leave one unattended leaning against a railing overlooking an inlet -- and other guys along the rail are just looking at me and shaking their heads.

I usually don't carry around salt water, especially fishing the pier, but at night after dark.....I was warned on Panama city pier after dark to pack , no worries here I'm headed for bed at dark time to try and make the morning bite

sounds like a job for a good reel-cover too. Get one that says Shakespeare or "bang-Hui" and it might help.

I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
