Is there anything in the regulations about using game fish as bait ?

in Tennessee, the possession limit is twice the daily bag limit. wonder what that would be for kings?

In Freshwater:
USE OF BREAM FOR BAIT All species of bream may be used as bait as long as a person does not have in his possession total bream numbers in excess of the daily creel limit, regardless of size, and they are harvested legally.
Other native game fish may not be used for bait.

Saltwater (federal waters):
The use of federally managed reef fish as bait is prohibited.

I couldn't find anything else speaking to gamefish as bait for state saltwater.

Just remember if your bait species has a size limit & bag limit, it still applies even if you use it as bait.

This is definetly an issue that needs clarification, especially for people like me, i make several trips a year, usually 4 or 5 days at a time, and its a 5 hour drive for me, i clean my fish at the pier, and store it on ice in a cooler kept at my hotel room or campsite, wherever im staying, until i go home, if i have a couple good days where i limit out, would this then make me in violation of the possession laws? Ive never really gave it any thought, always went by the daily limit and size laws, not thinking about the previous days catch in my storage cooler

In Michigan, the possession rule includes fish in transportation. So fish loaded up in coolers (on your boat or truck or in your garage) include the daily limit. But stored fish (cleaned, frozen in stationary freezer) can exceed the daily creel.

There are PLENTY of guys in violation when leaving camp and headed home and they're often busted and slapped with "reminder" fines.

Fished that are cleaned & put up in your freezer at home are NOT part of the possession limit in AL.

When we went out on a two day charter we kept the limit of snapper for both days.

"When visiting from out of state, staying at the beach for week and put up a mess of fish to take home: is cleaning the fish at the condo/camper considered "reducing it from possession"? (as long as one abides by daily limits of course).

Yes, these fish are considered "reduced from possession".

Lake Onalaska is only 20 miles from me. He should have his sack slit and his leg stuck through it, and he should also loose all fishing gear, car/truck, boat house, boat, freezer/refridge, and be banned from fishing for the rest of his life. As well as pay restitution.
