Great deal on the combo. One note about the line. After going 0 for 12 this year on 16, I upped the line to 30lb test just to get some fish in the cooler

... So far it has worked oke1:

Bubba, you could reel in the pier pylon with 30# line! That'll get'm in the cooler for sure. :headbang:

Re: Penn Fierce 6000,7000,8000 for kings

Thanks guys for all the information! I was mainly looking which reel and line setup to go with using the Fierce reels specifically. I have been using my cobia rod with 60# braid, but that is gets heavy to cast after awhile. It was suggested for me to go to mono for kings since it has more elasticity. Now all I gotta do is find out which rod blank to build me a rod :-X

i landed one on 6 lb this year... slim is trying to beat me with 4, not sure if he has yet or not... but i have one with 4 lb ready to go too...

in all reality i use 14 and rarely have the main line break. most of the time the single strand will break before the main line it seems, and you can put some serious pressure on a fish with 14..
Give a googan a king, and he can eat for a day. But teach a googan how to kingfish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years

Hey Bill, I use the 16# Illusion and whooped a 75+ lb shark on it the other day. I was dragging him in. I let him swim into a piling to help me break off.
