Sure hope the food tastes exceptionally good because right now it looks like it's going to turn into some sort of eyesore. I can see making a hunting camp out of old shipping containers, but a restaurant? Oh, come on, really-----

    Re: the pass in ob

I recently had an email exchange with the guy from ALDOT in charge of the project.
As you know the wall at the Perdido Pass Bridge has been deteriorating for quite some time. Up until recently our maintenance crews were able to keep up with the damage. Unfortunately, a section of the parking lot caved in under the weight of a person and we were forced to fence off the area for safety reasons. We are working on a project to replace the metal sheet pile wall. The plans should be ready the first of the year and has a price tag of almost $9 million dollars. ALDOT, Dept. of Conservation and Orange Beach have requested grant money to pay for the project. If we don’t receive the grant it will complete with the many other projects for funding.
Let's hope they get the grant money :

The restaurant is being built by the guy who owns the Hangout. I heard that the containers are temporary until the seawall can be repaired.

Well I hope those palm trees ten feet from the seawall are temporary too! :

"The city would reap the benefit from his project," she said. "It would be a place for tourists and our community to go. It would have fishing and open markets and be a place where people can interact with the waterfront. We want to get that point to its potential."

It's not difficult to read between the lines and know who that potential will benefit. So long free fishing at AP, hello pay to play.
    Screw it. Let's ride.
