William Temple Hatchett Chandler, was born on 24 January 1881 in Montgomery, Alabama. Member of the Fort Morgan, Alabama, Historical Commission.
Chandler was the custodian at Fort Morgan from the time of World War II until 1957, as well as secretary of the Fort Morgan Historical Commission. In his positions as custodian and secretary, he was largely responsible for the development of the park at Fort Morgan and for its popularity as an historical attraction. He wrote at least two books about Fort Morgan: Little Gems of Fort Morgan (1954), and The Red Dragon Flag (1965).
He died on 23 August 1967 in Foley, Baldwin County, Alabama, and is buried just outside the gates of Fort Morgan Park on the peninsula guarding the entrance into Mobile Bay, approximately 20 miles west of Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Pretty cool story huh? Dude wasn’t even from here either! That’s my zone out in those parts! We were 2nd pass regulars all the way down Hollis and Carter fished Ft Morgan pier relentlessly for years! Keep Ft Morgan Pure!😁

I heard tell from a fairly reliable source that the open land between Beach Club and the Plantation was bought,…for a public beach. True?
At least it’s not a high rise. I can’t stand the thought of the island becoming another Orange Beach.
