it's the corps of engineers that is wanting to restrict access below the dams. twra is refusing to enforce it if it passes.
i have caught a lot of stripers in the clinch river and have never even came close to being spooled. a 25 lb jack would drown a 60 lb striper if tied tail to tail. i haven't even hardly wet a line here since our trip down last year. there is just no comparison.

If you get a chance this year try the hiwassee near the power plant. the speed of the water makes one heck of a difference. its like trying to reel in a 60 log with muscle up the rapids.

Another TN resident here - I'm from the Memphis area. Stik - good to see a familiar "face"
I believe that Cordell Hull is one of the reservoirs impacted by the regulations, but I haven't heard much detail on whether they went through with installing hard barricades everywhere or not. The dams affected are on the Cumberland River only, not the Tennessee River.
I'll be down the week of June 8th - looking forward to spending a morning out on the pier again. Maybe in another couple years ill start bringing my son out to join in the fun. This year I think we'll stick to surf and lagoon fishing for him (he's 5).
Can't wait!

Plus if any of the locals want to try this summer I would be more than happy to meet up if I'm going and show some spots tips and tricks I've learned fishing for them in the upper Hiwassee.

I just might take you up on that
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
