Live shrimp, fresh dead shrimp, fleas and ghost shrimp. Crabs were eating the shrimp and fleas. The ghost shrimp would last about 5 seconds. Either a small hardtail or whiting would nibble it off.

I’ve been out here since 10 am and I’ve only seen a few whiting and pinfish being caught. Hopefully the bite will pickup soon.

Low tide middle of a HOT sunny day isn't usually conducive to much else.
You would probably do much better during the first two, or last two hours of daylight.

Beach lovers want clear water, bright skies. Surf fisherman want a breeze and good cloud cover, imho.
