LING JIGS ARE GREAT, USED ALOT OF THEM.WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. BUT A FROZEN CIG, OR HERRING, OR LIVE OR FROZEN EEL, IS SOME GREAT MO,JO LING CATCHING STUFF. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. OLD SCHOOL. THE NEW LING JIGS ARE GREAT , BUT JUST WANTED TO SAY THE OLD WAYS, MAY NOT BE THAT BAD EITHER. SIMPLE LING JIG WITH SOME KINDA OF TRAILER, SMELL WISE. DEAD CIG., HERRING, EEL, OR A STRIP OF SOME ,FISH, SMELLING ,SOMETHING.WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. CAUGHT A LOT OF COBIAS IN THE DAYS , JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE, YOU DONT FORGET THE SMELL.WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. WOOOOOOOOOOOO, THAT SMELL, THAT D&^% LING WILL SMELL THAT SMELL.WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. :headbang: :yippee:

Reminds me brother, I caught an undersized once while reeling in a baby hardhead catfish. Dang cobia will eat anything that gets near their mouth!!

Re: LING jig
I have been told that hardheads/sailcats are almost as good as eels for ling bait.

At least they have some form of use in the food chain.
I tried fishing dead catfish before and caught ... you guessed it--more catfish.
On two occasions I have caught fish while reeling in a catfish that took my cutbait: one a cobia and the other a redfish. My brother PJ also caught his largest redfish on a catfish he was reeling in.
I guess they have to be alive to count as a food item.
Either way, I still wouldn't consider them a "prime" bait--more like a "last resort." I'd rather use jery's AU jig. :headbang:
