If you're float fishing at the pier make sure you go with mono...bright mono. Plus when you hook up on that shark it'll be a lot easier to break of the 15#mono than 65#braid. Don't worry about the 15# mono being strong enough either, we all have stories of catching or witnessing someone catch a #30+ fish on 15# or less mono.

I have one reel spooled with 300 yards of Sufix Siege 17lb test. That is some strong stuff for Kings. Heard the Sufix Elite or Tritanium is good also. I use both braid and mono. The only time I don't like mono is when me and the kid next to me hook up and his braid crosses my mono and cuts it like butter.
When you get a nice wind knot in the middle of a $25 spool of braid it kind of sucks as well. If I had only one choice it would be good mono like 15lb Big Game or 16lb Pro Spec or Sufix in 14 or 17lb.

There are some piers have rules like no braided allowed or no braided line in the first 100 yard of the line you spooled. What do you guys think?
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
