So when does it become a tree rig instead of a straw rig with a trailer? I want something that I can cast legally...

With a little practice you should be able to underhand throw as far out as needed when the bite is on. Less chance for the gray guy's to strike.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
