I like the saltwater assassin plastics, but y favorites are soft freshwater swim baits
Give a googan a king, and he can eat for a day. But teach a googan how to kingfish, and he'll be dead of mercury poisoning inside of three years

Anyone have success with the Berkley Gulp baits? Just wondering how they compare to live bait.

I've had very good sucess with the 3" Gulp Shrimp on flounder, redfish, white trout, black drum, ladyfish and (to a lesser degree) speckled trout, ground mullet, whiting and pompano.
Mostly the New penny color on a 1/4 ounce jighead.
This summer I experimented with the 2" Gulp Shrimp on a 1/8 ounce jig head to target whiting and was moderately sucessful.
Had a HUGE bycatch though :-\
And this year they all seemed to be 'softer' and tore more easily >

Anyway artificials seldom compare to live shrimp under 'ideal' fishing conditions but IMHO they are a great substitute and work well even in dingy water. :headbang:

And like Peaches I often prefer those plastic swim baits ;-)
    (RETIRED) mostly.

Fwiw....The kietech swing impact line is the best swimbait I have tried. Both it and the fat impact have a strong squid scent. When I need a bait that gives a "thump" rather than a wiggle, its the go to bait for me.

I've caught nice Bull Red's inshore, flounder at the pass, and specs like them too! I use them all the time and love them! Nuclear Chicken and New Penny colors work well for flounder!
    I'd rather be fishin'! :fishing:

I had more success using 3X Redfish Magic by Strike king than using any other soft plastic. They are super tough, come in a lot of different colors. Use them with a 1/8 oz "bait holder" style jighead. I will give you that much, colors are my secret haha. :fishing:

    Re: Gulp Baits?

they work great for just about anything, they were all i flounder fished with for years, and during season, you cant keep the trout off them :fishing:, though you only can catch about 2-4 trout max on one, the trout shred'em, and only 1-3 flounder on them, you normally dont get tham back from flounder
I figure it this way, if everyone in the world had a lie clock, whose hands moved once every time they lied. You could use any politicians lie clock as a ceiling fan.
