Tried slurping yesterday afternoon for the first time, lower but not low tide, fairly calm surf, shallow point. Managed to get about 50 ghost shrimp in about an hour of slurping. Definitely better with a helper with a net. Went again this morning at daylight by myself. Rough surf and higher tide. NOT the best conditions to slurp, but I did manage to get about 50 more ghosties, but it took about 2 hours. I will be adding a handle to the 2" barrel of my slurp gun, as suggested. Not too bad to start, but when your hands get wet, its hard to hold. Pompano wouldn't bite sand fleas yesterday, but would eat up a ghost shrimp. Surf fished out Fort Morgan Road at Cabana Beach. Lots of points out there, but only caught pompano out past the first sand bar. Also caught a couple of short flounder, a few whiting, and a red fish. It was fun, but surf fishing is hard work for us older dudes.

I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
