How about a good ol' night time "blanket party" for the bastid? Or at least a trip off the end and a swim back to shore. Bait him up, just like fishing....

Yeap, that's the guy who stole all of the stuff.
As stated, he will make his son there steal from you as well, along with his wife/sister (not sure which it is).
They (kid and woman) will ask you over and over, "You give fish to me?" If you don't, they'll steal your fish from your cooler when you're not looking. The boy will also take all your lures and random equipment.
If he/they are on the pier, I definitely recommend some folks quit fishing and watch their every move. Make sure he is not following you from the pier parking lot to your home
Or in some cases, .... make sure he's following you... to that special place where you'll lead him.

I have to ask---why in the hell don't you tell the new warden? The photos of the guy are right here on the forum along with his history and MO. Let the man do his job---for that matter, we could help set something up. I know he has no problem wearing civvies.

I agree Haywire. The new warden seems to be full of pizz and vinegar towards his duties. Report it and let him do his job. While it might fun to snatch a knot in this guys ass, it could land you in as much or more trouble than him. Not saying that's right, just the way it is. Now if the guy comes to your home to steal......

Avoid legal trouble. Print lots of pictures. Give one to everyone that works on the pier and all the regulars. The regulars could tape them to the side of their cooler with a "WATCH OUT FOR THIS GUY" comment. I know it would be more satisfying to beat the crap out of him and when I was younger and stupider that would have probably been my choice. Everyone in our neighborhood still talks about the guy that was trying to kill me until my wife came up behind him and hit him in the head with a shovel. That put an end to that altercation. Up to that point I was just pushing him off with my walking stick. I had a rifle on the back seat of my truck but hated to deal with the legal system so much I did not shoot him.

What trouble? I didn't see anything.
Those young guns need something to keep them occupied.
Problem with getting the police involved is they won't even talk to you unless he actually steals something, and then the stolen item must be valued over $500. Back when he stole my rod/reel setup, its value "combined" was about $585, and that was the only reason they let me file a report. The officer told me point blank he couldn't help me otherwise.
This theif apparently knows this and tries to go after items of above-average value so the cops won't intervene. He doesn't seem to target more valuable items like Van Staals.
Maybe the new kindergarten cop will enjoy handling the issue for the sheer joy of flexing a political bicep, but I doubt he can fix the problem from a legal standpoint unless the guy takes something of greater value.
For the record, this guy has typically hit everyone right at sunset during the evening redfish and shark runs, and when the commotion of the late afternoon tourist croud leaving the pier at once causes enough distraction. Having the cover of night makes his roguish techniques more possible.
All that said, I sure hope the cop puts his foot down on this issue to at least scare the theives off. I'd say that'd be a more appropriate use of his time, as opposed to creative writing.

Hopefully the police/wardens get involved and help keep stuff like this from happening. Until then I believe the posting of pictures all over the pier would certainly help. Hard to believe that a known convicted thief is allowed back on the pier at all-I guess the state of Alabama doesn't want to violate his "rights" such as the right to steal.
There's no way to stop it all but the more people that are made aware of what's going on and who's responsible the less likely it is to happen. There is a good group of people that pretty much work together fishing, put some of that energy into watching out for each other. The problem with this one known piece of crap would seem fairly easy to fix. Keep him run off the octi, or take turns standing beside him while he's there. Make sure he knows that everyone is on to him.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
