Grateful for all the feedback fellas! I have been solely using frozen shrimp. Sounds like this has been a big part of my problem and lack of any consistent success. Can't wait till next year to try again as I only get to go down once a year daggummitt!! This forum is awesome and hope to keep expanding my knowledge learning from y'all.
My goal is to catch some flounder and pompano. I had the fortune of catching a pompano and cooking it. It was great! Also love the taste of flounder.
Where on the pier is good for flounder/pompano?

Welcome to the Forum, Canvasback. My story is like yours. Surf fished for years ( 30+) For Pompano and flounder, and would occasionally do good. Last fall I started thinking about getting ready to make plans for the May trip to Ft. Morgan. I don't use the computer much, but I somehow had this site pop-up. Lurked for awhile and started learning what I didn't know, which, as it turned out, was a great deal of small, important facts. I learned so much in a short time, this year on the beach, I was making pompano rigs, with knots I had learned, jigging for flounder, the right way. And caught more keeper pomps than I ever had. Landed several flounder that were on the small side, with only one keeper, but I am so ready for my next go at 'em. Feel lucky to have found this forum and I am so thankful for everything I've learned.
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
