Re: Forum Feature Requests?
I like not having to dig thru a ton of different boards to find what I am interested in. Some forums I am on have 30 or more boards and not many people actually post.
What happened to the K. I. S. S. rule?
When it comes to getting somthing out of a forum, less is better. There is a new forum run by a member on here and the dude has so many boards it is not worth my time to try and sift thru all the spam to find something of reel interest.
Please don’t go adding abunch of stuff and klutter up this forum too.
Life is like toilet paper; you’re either on a roll or taking crap from some a$$hole!

That's exactly why this is setup the way it is! We purposely created as few boards as possible. It took us a week of back and forth discussions before we even added the DIY board. I think we could add one extra report board for out of town people.
Wilson - We kinda have a board already for what you want. We have a board for reports from the area that are not from the pier.
Ironman - We can take care of the pics. Actually, I thought we already had.
DRH - I will look into it.

Re: Forum Feature Requests?
I have an idea for a new board with a very limited ability to create any new thread in. What I'm thinking of is a place to send away worthy threads concerning questions that have been asked and answered several times over. Give the mods the ability to choose what threads should go there, as well as deleting posts within that thread which don't add to the overall wisdom of the thread. It may not be of much value to the experienced among us, rather than the newbs that are asking about what they should do to prepare for an upcoming visit. It would also help this forum do something that it is already very good at, limiting the number of sticky threads. I loath boards that have more stickies than current threads on the first page.

Re: Forum Feature Requests?
^^^ We hate stickies. Thats why I didnt even sticky the Forum maintenance thread.
I don not like deleting posts, cuz people think we are moderating and removing posts that we dont agree with. We have the ability, we just dont do it very often.

Re: Forum Feature Requests?
I wasn't really meaning that you would have to delete posts, but you could copy a thread and the posts which are on topic to a FAQ board. Leave the original completely intact wherever it was to begin with or merely move the entire thread over. Also I wasn't implying that it should become a place for "this topic is dead and this are the answers we decided upon " threads. Leave the thread open so folks can ask for or add more specifics on a given topic. Just limit the creation of new threads.

Re: Forum Feature Requests?
[font=comic sans ms][size=12pt]OK, here’s my .20 cents worth (inflation).
Like Bubba, I don’t like to edit or delete threads and/or posts. We normally don’t do it without some discussion and agreement first. There are exceptions though.
I also believe in the KISS principle. I am only thinking out loud here, and here are my thoughts.
• Make “Off Topic” a for members only board since it’s a catchall, speak your mind area that sometimes doesn’t really need to be viewed by the general public who are interested in fishing. Might be a good place to store our dirty laundry that might be offensive to guests’ viewing the forum, especially for the first time.
• Make “Buy, Sell or Trade Forum” public so items get more exposure and if a Guest wants more info on an item, they join us and quit lurking.
• “Alabama Coastal General Fishing” already covers posting of river/freshwater fishing. Maybe change the name to “Coastal and River General Fishing”.
• I am all for easier photo posting as long as it doesn’t low down the forum and increase our costs. I have a commercial Photobucket account now and my phone automatically uploads to my account, cheap and unlimited storage. And yes, I’m cheap, but not unlimited.
Thanks to Bubba for using his expertise to keep us up and running!
Bubba deserves a raise. ???

Please add back the ability for an OP to delete a thread.
Screw it. Let's ride.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
