Isn't there a burden of proof issue here? Doesn't the state have to prove the fish are illegal instead of me having to prove they are legal? If not, then there is no difference between them checking my cooler in the parking lot or the refrigerator in the condo or my freezer at home.

If it is a violation of the law to clean fish on the pier because it is "on the water" then they need to ticket the STATE for putting the cleaning stations there to begin with. Since they did, then it seems to me to be a moot point. If they want to press the issue, put some of the video cameras they are so fond of over the cleaning stations. Lord knows they have them everywhere else in the world.

In my opinion, for whatever it is worth. Probably not much.

The state was considering moving the fish cleaning station to land (or the parking lot).
It's no telling now if the issue will be TRUELY resolved in the best interest of the fishermen, walkers and employees of the pier.

That's the honest truth. Punched a chipper on a cross tie mill (unquestionably the most dangerous job I've ever been around) for a couple of summers and nearly got eaten couple times even while following all safety regs. Saw some people do some REALLY stupid things to get hurt badly. oke1:
That said, count me among the ranks of those who hope for an outbreak of sanity. :

[/quote]looks like this is definitely a win/win/win situation. Angler doesn't have to carry the catch home to clean/no mess in the water around tge pier or beach/extra income generated for the pier.

any news from the meeting?

I submitted a post asking for opinions on filet knives. Someone suggested that I search the archives, I did, and came across this post. Dang, I read on and on like a novel or TV mini-series saga, then it stopped.

What happened at the meeting, what was the outcome? What is the current day process for cleaning pier caught fish?

yea i read the first post before i looked at the date . all i could think was " oh crap are they doing this again"

to answer your question its all good , clean your fish trow scraps overboard.
