Re: fish cleaning
Sorry VG, I misunderstood your message. Hope they catch that dog, hate for it to get hold of a person or animal.

It was my company van, so it will be a few days yet before the insurance "kicks in" from the corporate lag time.
Definitely not coyotes.
The owners of the pit bull mastiffs reported their escaped dogs to police shortly after the attack on our van occured. So we're quite positive, along with some other details I will post soon upon obtaining 100% factual certanties from dna testing.
Our orange/black tortoise shell cat is still missing. The Siamese is still in the tree--he has meowed so much, his voice is nearly gone now.
Both our vet and fire department say to wait until he comes down on his own. We'll see. Being purebred, he's not a "normal" cat behavior-wise.

Tuck, the last time I was on the pier, there were temporary looking paper signs posted by the State Park that say to put fish remains in the garbage cans. The catch 22 is that the law says it is illegal to put remains in cans on state property, and the park doesn’t make the laws.
I am cleaning fish at home until there is a clear and documented resolution to this political BS.
The opinions expressed here represent my own and not those of the GSPFF.

Re: fish cleaning
I will put it this way. I grew up fishing the 3 mile fishing bridge, and in turn ended up getting my first job there at the age of 16. I loved it.. all of it.. except for the days I had to empty the trash cans on the bridge. I have NEVER smelled anything worse. I would pull the bag out, to find maggots crawling on the bottoms.. Needless to say that didn't last long!

Re: fish cleaning
We are getting ready to propose some REALLY nice fish grinders to the assistant commissioner.
I am looking at a set up which will work well if mounted in a safety hatch (so hands are not caught in it).
Just the SMALL one basically Liquifies catfish, redfish, red snapper and other tough heads in a matter of seconds--turns them into instant mush without the need for our hands getting near it.
With these industrial grinders installed, we have the potential to eliminate problems that salt water environments normally cause lower grade commercial grinders. Additionally, the grinder liquifies the remains and can deposit them back into their place of origin without any chance of fish parts making it back to shore in sight of beach going tourists.
If we can agree on a reasonable price, and the commissioner gives his stamp of approval, then the problem is solved.
He told me face to face that he was willing to spend the money for a top grade industrial grinder if it will solve this problem. We are almost there folks!

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
