The whole idea is just catching a few winks while fishing. Calling that camping is about like calling the act of buying a can of sardines, fishing.

My idea of camping has changed over the years as I get older, went from sleeping on the ground(in a sleeping bag if lucky enough) to a tent, to a class 3 rv and now the cabin....the first few are not on my list anymore, once in awhile, I will sleep on the fold down bed in the back of the conversion van, on long trips ....but that is a necessity and roughing it for me anymore

If you're just babysitting reels overnight, look into a tent cot. It keeps you up off the sand, packs up nice and small and is a lot faster to set up than a traditional 2-man tent. Many guys fishing Pickens at night use them.

I am with you ironman. My days of tent camping or ground camping are in the past. We have a 30 ft camper that we leave at the river/campground yearly. That's all the roughing it I want to do anymore.

my cabin isn't on wheels so I'll have to suffer and rent a condo when traveling , by myself, a motel is good enough....but in reality the condo is cheaper for longer stays off season....our last fall trip for a 2 bedroom worked out at 50 a night, for everything (tax,cleaning )

I have been getting very sorry no spring trip and been looking at condo rental's today....plenty of opening's after the spring break season, would love to make the picnic and fish a week....might be hard to work it out with the bride, her parents and grand kids school.....after the dismal spring fishing last year it wasn't so bad missing that trip and made up for it in the fall with the looooong stay....sure hope that can be duplicated this year.....I don't mind being referred to as a month'er Googan touron

Does anybody have any records as to when the first king was caught in 2010 and 2011.i checked the water temps. Back to 2010 and they were running about the same as this year.i can remember 2012 and 2013.

never followed the temps, our spring trips always were during the grand kids break during Easter week, but I know I was there for the record setting king chew down that spring year ....over 190 plus all the other fish,never been that sore from fishing before....from catching, netting and gaffing, I had noodle arms by the end of the day(and I was in a lot better shape then too)(still working)....darn I love it....wish for the same this year, for you guys
