The doctors ran all kinds of tests and they were scratching their heads. They don't have a clue what happened. I am just glad he is ok.

Sounds like the onset of some hardcore narcolepsy.
Back when I was a bartender, I had a customer who was a narcoleptic, he took more naps than a lazy cat.
He spilled a lot of beers, but never fell off his stool.Ragnar Benson:

Always taking naps in a bar, and spilling beers. That sounds like something else to me.
