Let us pray it doesn't get any worse!
These will be the last pictures of the night and they are the ones you have been waiting on... the end of the line. Overall, things look good. A couple of blow panels were knocked out and the railing on the end is pretty much gone, but the electrical (as demonstrated by the lights) is in good order.(RETIRED) mostly.

For the most part I consider us lucky, I'm glad we didn't take a direct hit. I've seen way worse.

[size=12pt][font=comic sans ms]Sorry it took so long, but my damn power went off for about 1 1/2 hours right after my last post.
8-28-2012 Afternoon Storm Photos and short Video
Here we go, the pics are a bit blurry in some cases do to high wind and telephoto lens and they look like black and white, but are really color. It was crappy out there and didn’t get out of the car much cuz shorts and a t-shirt aren’t much defense against the blowing sand.
After I shot the stills of the pier, I started shooting a video and it got cut short by the park Rangers; you will hear the siren at the end of the pier portion of the video as I was run off.
Lake Shelby white capping pretty good

The pier entrance was blocked so I went and parked in the old convention center entrance and got as close as I could before the Park Rangers ran me off with a siren warning.

Fin---That's the best news coverage of the area I've seen. Looks like the old Rock is taking a pounding but may be reopened in time for the October action. The sooner the better. Thanks for taking your camera equipment out in those nasty conditions.

Rode over to the pier and from a half mile away things look the same as in the pics,so that's good. The Gulf appears to be calming down a little.Being there is little damage to the park in general all we can do is hope they take priority on fixing the pier.

Re: 8-28-2012 Live video of OBA and Misc. Photos
Thanks for the pictures and information. I come to this page to see what's really happening instead of depending upon the news media coverage. Sad to see the damage to the pier because it will probably be several weeks before it reopens. With all of my many years of trips to the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach area I can feel myself standing in all the positions where photos were snapped. Thanks to the pier staff for the panel removal actions which probably kept the damage from being much more severe. Has anyone seen any information on the Four Season Fishing Pier? It is about two feet higher than the state pier. I plan on being there in early October for a week.
Great job everyone.... Stay Safe........Thanks.......

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
