And what's wrong with the 705 and 711 ??????? Except having to turn your rod around to use them ????????? Seriously any lefties out there have an opinion about the Penn 705 or n 711???

How can you tell the difference between a 706 and a 704 with a manual conversion kit/new rotor cup and bearing? I bought a "706" gold spool the other day because it was a good price and I wanted a manual but it doesn't have any badging and I'm not good enough to tell the difference.

If you decide to powder coat the old black one I will be happy to give you one of the metal side plates I got off of Chef last week.

More than likely the black reel has a plastic side plate. You can't powder coat plastic.

if the 704 has a new rotor it will not have a conversion kit. a conversion kit is only used for the original 704 rotor. the only way to know would be open up the gearbox and look for part number. only problem with that is more than likely even the original 706s had 704 housings and internal parts

Thanks I don't care either way, I paid 100 bucks and it seems like a good deal. Caught a 3 ft blacktip on it the other day and it performed flawlessly.
