I've done a lot of that "standing". After watching Steve the other day I went and bought a lighter rod to see if I can work at king fishing a little more and have a little more success (I'm an old fart with bad shoulders - hard to do much hard fishing).
I soaked a cigar minnow on the down-current side for about two hours before Steve, his son, and the other young fellow showed up (and then for another hour after they got there). The young guy hooked a king on an X-rap on his third cast while Steve worked on his reel. Then I left, apparently, just before Steve caught his king.
It remains to be seen if I can fish as hard as Steve does, doubtful even with a lighter rod, but I know dang well he earns his success.People are shocked to see sharks in the water around here.
If you see natural water taste it. If it's salty it has sharks in it. If it's fresh it has alligators in it. If it's brackish it has both.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
