Happy New Year Carl and everybody. This is my first complete year down on the coast. (Live in Daphne) I am still trying to figure out fishing around here. God Bless all.

I felt real sorry for the birds trying to get at my feeder this morning. The ones that came too early froze in mid-air and I had to push them aside to put some more seed out. I tried to take some pictures, but the intense cold had slowed down the light waves so much that the photos were all underexposed. When I tried to use my peter finder, it was snapped in two---from the inside. I think I will sit close to the fire and re-read "The Cremation of Sam McGee".

I was worried about the cold in Gulf Shores and maybe leaving the heat turned off. James went by the house last night and turned the thermostat up to 60. Now I'm stuck here in Gardendale with no water. I think it must be frozen up in the front yard where Linda parks her car so much dirt has washed out. Here's hoping the Sun thaws it out enough today to get it back on.

I truly feel sorry for you fellows along the coastline for having to endure this unseasonably cold weather. Sure, it's cold up here too, but we expect it and we are ready for it. I would doubt if you expect it or are ready for it. Our houses are very well insulated, our water pipes are 4' deep, in many cases our garages are heated, the snow plow and the chains stay right on the pick-up. O.K. bring it on! We'll deal with it.
You people are very definitely in my prayers.
