Tides are already running 1' above normal before this rolls in, I expect we'll see 3-4' vs. the forecasted 1-2'.
And given that the ground is already saturated, we'll see flooding in all the normal places.
Just a little increase in intensity and we'll be looking at a Cat 1.
Not good.Carl

It gwineter blow and it gwineter rain. Went to Foley Walmart for hot dog buns and they were pretty near sold out of bottled water, except for Fiji Water. Let's all run in circles, shout, panic and mess our pants. Nail your pets to a tree so they won't blow away.
I think I'll wait for a stronger storm before I lose it. Even then, I'll go a hundred miles or so north before relaxing my iron self discipline.
This is not to say that you can't get hurt in a Cat 1 if you do stupid things. Like, it's not the best time to snorkel those new reefs.

It's likely the park staff won't have time to pull any blow out panels as the storm is fast moving and conditions will deteriorate by mid day. And the forecast doesn't bode well for the pier. All we can do is pray ...

City of Gulf Shores officials are actively monitoring developments with Tropical Storm Gordon. The storm is forecast to become a minimal hurricane at landfall, which is expected late Tuesday or early Wednesday along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. The National Weather Service has issued a hurricane warning for coastal Mobile/Baldwin Counties, which includes the City of Gulf Shores.
Conditions are expected to begin to deteriorate along coastal areas with tropical force wind impacts as midday Tuesday, and minimal hurricane force winds are possible Tuesday night as the storm intensifies and moves over our area.
At this time, 2 to 5 inches of rain is expected, with the potential for localized heavy rain amounts reaching 6 to 10 inches. Officials anticipate 2 to 4 feet of storm surge and higher than normal tides and surf. These conditions will present a high risk of dangerous rip currents and significant flooding for low-lying areas. Double red flags are currently posted on Gulf Shores’ beaches indicating the water is closed to swimming.
Residents who live in flood-prone, low-lying areas and those residing in mobile homes, campgrounds and RV parks should take all necessary precautions in advance of the storm.
The City of Gulf Shores officials encourage all residents and visitors to take the following precautions:
• Hurricane Re-entry Decals will cease to be issued at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 4, due to our area being under a hurricane warning. Proof residency or property ownership along with a valid driver’s license is required to obtain a Hurricane Re-entry Decal.
• A limited amount of free sand for sand bags is available at the Gulf Shores Sportsplex, which is located at 19025 Oak Road West (County Road 6 West). Sand bags and shovels are not provided, but can be purchased at local hardware and home improvement stores.
• In anticipation of TS Gordon’s arrival, residents are advised to secure all outdoor patio furniture and other items which may become projectiles with high velocity winds.
• Pick up all yard debris and remove it from ditches and culverts, so water will drain freely.
• Be sure to have a safety plan in place for you and your family. This includes planning for essential medications, contact information, food, water and pets.
• You must know your elevation in order to understand if your location will be impacted by storm surge. Find your elevation online at viewer.nationalmap.gov/viewer.
• Keep a list of local emergency contact information. Find contact information at www.gulfshoresal.gov/resourcedirectory.
For additional tips/information and weather-related resources regarding Tropical Storm Gordon, visit www.gulfshoresal.gov/emergencymanagement.
Gulf Shores Emergency Management staff will continue to monitor storm developments and will provide updates as they become available.
For the latest updates and advisories, continue to follow the City of Gulf Shores on Facebook (www.facebook.com/cityofgulfshoresal) and Twitter (@City_GulfShores) and monitor the City’s website at www.gulfshoresal.govor call the Emergency Information line at 251-968-2425.

Just called Pier and they are open and no prep work being done for storm yet. I sure hope it dies down or misses us.
