we stayed/Camped at the jellystone in elberta two weekends ago. Inexpensive, quiet, primitive and rv sites, pool, pond with "Catfish, Bass and Brim" as the Mary (The woman behind the counter) told me. Showers and bathrooms were always clean. It's about 20-25 min from the pier depending on traffic. We tent camped, about 25$ a night, cooked my spanish and pomps on the fire. If you want to go cheap and don't mind being 20 minutes from the pier/beach it's not bad at all.

Ive stayed there too, but with the addition of their resort tax and the filled primitive camp sites... it was more than I was wiling to spend at 50 a night to tent camp in an rv site.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; there is no such thing as a cheap place to stay in or near a popular resort area, especially in season.

I see that BassPro has an 8 person tent for sale for under $100. You could get one of those and stay at the campground. If they aren't booked, too.
