We are excited to announce that Hwy 135 will be re- opened Tuesday October 8th at 5:00 pm and remain open continuously thru the week of Shrimp Festival. This will provide Park guests, campers, and visitors two way access along Hwy. 135 during the Shrimp Festival.
Hwy 135 will again be closed for additional construction starting Tuesday, October 15th at 6:00 am and is expected to remain closed through December 23rd.

This is a much better guard rail, I had been unhappy with the pole guardrail/rope & pole guardrail and we got a kick out of the often missing/broken poles which would relate to spring break-New Years-other holidays-peak tourist season-etc. Think the money would have been better spent elsewhere like the pier, boardwalks, parking light lights, etc.

I agree with you on money spent better elsewhere. I sent Lamar an Email about the work they are talking about doing this winter on replacing all the wood on the pier. We should get a group of pier regulars together and make suggestions as to what could be done to better the piers upkeep and overall appearance. We conversed back and forth about the handicapped fishing stations and he said by law they have to be there. I agree with him but they need a better design and someway to keep people from using them as bait cutting stations.
I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
