I love Fish River Grill's "Swamp Soup" (turnip greens and bean soup). We eat at the one in Foley all the time! I fix fish all the time at home, so when I go out, I have fried shrimp lots of times. I like the offerings at Fish River Grill and if you've never tried "David's Catfish House" in Atmore -- give it a try sometime. Their popcorn shrimp is more than you can eat and they have a really delicious sweet slaw.

I love the swamp soup as well, never heard of it until I ate at Fish River Grill. I make it at home now, but a real hearty version more like a Chili, with plenty of greens, beans and sausage. One batch will last me awhile, no one else here will touch it.

Fresh fish menu- Mikees's blackened is hard to beat
Fin and Fork- IMO the best on the island
    Big Mike's- Steaks are excellent
Doc's- basic fried food but good and reasonable
    DeSoto's- good food
Cobalt- Close 2nd overall to Fin and Fork
Flora Bama Yacht Club- small menu but very good food and fun place

Gotta agree about the Swamp Soup at FRG.
I make it at home quite a bit too. In a larger quantity it makes a whole meal.

Please share the recipe! I found some copycat recipes, but they are not nearly as good as FRG! That's some good stuff!
