How far down would the chute extend? Seems the pelicans would just congregate under the pier if it opened right under the deck. If it extended at least TO the waterline, I think it'd be ok as fast as the carci sink. Just a thought.
Screw it. Let's ride.

you mean a chute that would hold the carcasess and let someone come empty them, or one that empties out into the water?
I figure it this way, if everyone in the world had a lie clock, whose hands moved once every time they lied. You could use any politicians lie clock as a ceiling fan.

Its not a birds problem, its a people problem. Next time you see a tourist, googan or even a regular feeding the birds, politely and tactfully tell them it is nott he right thing to do, its not allowed and ask them to stop. If they dont listen, point them out to the next pier staff person who come out.

I didn't think these birds would eat something that wasn't good for them. That being said, I do understand their developing a dependency, being a problem. Throwing the carcasses over the side doesn't seem to help either, because it ends up being a battle zone in the water for the birds fighting over them. A chute sounds reasonable but the States typical build would only last until the first high rough surf before being torn off let alone what would happen in a real storm. For God's sake, we can't even get all the pier lighs running at the same time!

It'd be better to make an effort than to do nothing. A terrible thing happens when you don't take any sort of action----NOTHING.

Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
