Have you ever tried to get a spot around back, under the Perkins Rd. exit ramp? I haven't been there in over 10 years and I think they have expanded the building some since then at the expense of parking spots.

    Psycobilly,
If you feel like getting of the beatin path, there's a place called Avoyelles Parish. When you're headed S on 49, it's in between Alexandria and Opelousas. It doesn't have much to offer besides drive thru daqururi huts, a casino (Paragon Casino), and damn good hunting (Lake Ophelia & Grassy Lake). The food there in Avoyelles Parish is second to none. If I had to have one last link of Boudin, it would defiantly be (Smoked Red Boudin) from T-Jim's in Cottonport La. There's also "Juneaus Specality Meats" in Marksville close to the Casino. If you buy frozen crawfish, there's a good chance it comes from Avoyelles Parish, Bernard's Seafood is also in Cottonport. They also have a restaurant called "Bernard's Cajun Sea Fry".

If eating is your thing, a hour or two delay won't disappoint you. If you have kids, they'll think the hotel at the Paragon Casino is pretty neat. Live gators that swim around the lobby of the hotel. If you have any questions about the area I can answer them. I spent 18 yrs leaving my mark there.

Heres a few links to some of the mentioned places.

I doubt you'll be disappointed by any of the places mentioned. Didn't mean to take anything away from what DRH, Delta, and DD posted. Just throwing out options for you. We all have our favorite places but even a quick stop at a random mom and pop store for a link of boudin is hard to beat. Grab you a Natchitiches meat pie too at one of your stops, that's a weekly ritual for me commuting back n forth from La.
