just to update yall... our lease prices went to poop rather quick lol. I lost 8 guys... Anyway.. they tested a couple dozen deer in the area and all were negative.

funny thing... I heard from a friend of a friend that knows a guy, that the state was trying to purchase land in that area prior to the CWD being found... makes ya think don't it.

Anyway, having grown up on one of the largest high fence pay to play areas in MS and surrounding states I can say that high fence deer are well taken care of, although it is easier to transmit disease when they use the same trough feeder, we never brought deer in, but they did selectively breed and cull bucks and does for some amazing results..
**side note if some of yall think its easy to kill a big buck in a 1000+ acre pen then you don't know what you speak of..

It will start out in small pockets, then it will spread as deer disperse or through hunter harvest/carcass disposal of infected deer. We had 30something positive deer this year in a county that previously hadn't had any found. I'm sure there are more positives roaming around in that county and others, but those positives are shedding and spreading prions into the landscape that will continue to infect susceptible species for decades. Not currently an end in sight.
