Excellent, congratulations.
BTW, don't let the purist intimidate you, using an UL spinning rod for trout is not sacrilege! (but might be illegal in some streams, as is live/natural bait on lure/fly only streams.)
A single salmon egg on a good egg hook, no weight, bounced through the riffles and around rocks is a good way to catch rainbows.
But get good UL gear, drags on reels that small can be notorisously sticky, and given that you are using 4-6# line, a sticky drag is not a good thing.
And those short little rods they put the combos on tend to suck, get a good 6' UL with lots of guides.Carl

Going whole hog. Always wanted to fly fish.. Have a 9' -- 5 weight from Orvis with spooled reel. Got a guided trip for Christmas, so I'll go from there.
Screw it. Let's ride.

Best of luck to you DD, from a guy that has fished trout for 65 + years every way possible, except dynamite, FinChaser, CarlF knows what he is talking about. The 9' Orvis #5 is as good as you can get, it will do you well. Don't worry about the reel, it's only a place to store the line when your not fishing. You will catch more trout with a spinning rod that a fly rod but it is more enjoyable to catch them on a fly rod because in most cases you will see it happen. Keep in mind that trout pick up 90% of their food from the bottom of the stream. In other words use nymphs or bead heads, and dry flies only when they are feeding off the top. If you don't see them rising, get down where you belong.

Roger on Dillon. Plan on going up into the National Forest above Keystone to fish the Snake and adjacent ponds/small lakes that drain into the upper end of Dillon Reservoir.
The road up from Keystone is where I took the moose pic. Were actually 2 bulls right beside the road just past Montezuma going up to the Nat Forest.Screw it. Let's ride.

Greg, you not going out there to become a weed farmer are ya?
Flyguy, I have never used dynamite for bait; and that hand grenade incident was over forty years ago!
Well, after several hours making phone calls, I was able to track down a certain manufacturer’s service center in California. Thankfully, they agreed to send out my needed parts. These were left over...
You would think I would know this!
