did that move the reel seat forward or was the handle added before the build.....I know Slim is a tall guy so maybe the extra length from butt to reel seat works for him
if needed I could cut the foam off the end and cap later with a few inches of foam left .....the rod is 9ft now and half stripped (butt half) working on future 2pc rods for trips without the luxury of the full size van for travels ......plus the one John redid is 2pc and fishes greatBill..............

just another snag, seems I have two shades of fiber glass that was hidden under the black paint....no wonder it was painted? I guess hard to match up when it's not 1 piece.....I should just stick to messing with steel
but on I go
I appreciate all help and advice given !!!!
I am in the beginner stag of learning and mistakes are manyBill..............

I am with you on working better with Steel Ironman! I have an old Diawia rod that needs rebuilding. I am trying to learn vicariously through you so i can if i decide to do it myself instead of paying someone to do it

learning through me is a big mistake,
although I learned from one of the best(John g)....but seeing it one time and helping some doesn't show you all....and my memory is fading
after making the hand gaff last year and having some material left over I thought why not try this rod .....maybe I should just strip the whole thing and put on new everything, instead of just the guides and sealer ....I still have to make a hand wrapper for the tying.....I put together a dryer last year that work good ....just another project to work onBill..............

Found another 9ft-4in rod and the light sanding isn't getting some areas where the old guides were the same.......do I need to keep lightly sanding or try something else?
Bill..............

Just keep sanding. You can add a little heat to loosen it up at little. Just dont use to much

I keep sanding the guide areas ......doesn't seem to help much......next to placing the new guides in the same location. .....not sure what else to do......guess II'll sand some more......not going to use heat.....it's all stripped ......I'll try and post a couple pics,if I can figure out how to off this tablet
The pic's don't show it to well......I'll keep sandingBill..............

Slim just wanted to be like John
The butt extension was add for extra rod length and the reel seat was placed with the extension in mind so the butt length is still around 15".

I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
