You may be right, DRH. Ocean City Chelsea 250, and the "star" washer-thing on the back side-plate (not the star drag) looks very much the same.

OKeee Dokee found this one on flea-bay. I do believe we have a winner. Except for a few different bolts, cross members over the spool and a few other things this model looks a lot like the one I have, especially the "250" stamp on the base.

Agree.
It's missing the OC emblem, but that is an Ocean City freespool lever fer sure.
Good eye David!

I've got to admit this reel has me intrigued and I'm learning a little about OC reels. The 250 on the bottom of the foot is common to several of their reels and come to find out that it is in reference to the capacity of the reel and not a model number. I've been scouring the interweb and haven't been able to find your reel exactly. The handle is the main thing I'm unable to match. My research leads me to believe it is a Bay City 112W. Check it out here.

The handle does not look homemade and the fit is good for the handle. So I am going to say that it came with it. I will check out the OC page on the laptop when I get home. My eyesight is too weak to do any close examining on this phone. I have to admit that as a history buff I am finding this side of fishing very exciting. Thanks for all the help.

I have a rod that you may be interested in. It is a newer OC solid glass 6 footer (probably from the 70's). It won't be a period precise rod to match your reel, but since it needs refurbishing things can be done to make it look like they were meant to be together.
I’ll be sliding into town March 10-14. Can you have it warm and sunny for me then? And also, how about having the fish biting??? :D
