I have been using the bottom of a big ice tea can ,only being 1/2 a rod it holds enough finish for what I am doing, although the first coat I doubled it up for the cord wrap on the reel seat area .....time to take the razor blade to it and knock a couple high spot down....still not sure what that area is but it is high, might be a part of the brush that I missed???, I did find another in time on the cord ???I did get a hair in it too.....darn this going bald when working on projects that matter, maybe a hair net is in order

    thanks for your help!!

bill I use Pie tins for my epoxy. Gives you enough surface area for the finish to spread out and the bubbles can work their way out.

well I messed up, I figured the original thread had already changed colors if it was going too, so I ordered like colored thread that would not change color.....well the new thread did exactly that didn't change but the original did darken .....dang,crap,shoot....

oh well it is what it is..... looks like a full rebuild years from now on that one

Black and NCP thread is your friend when starting off. Make sure to wash your hands when handling the thread. Oils from your hands get on it and key make a fish eye pattern

just a replacement guide and now a learning process, no big deal....just makes me made a little, I didn't test the old before ordering the new thread for it, and figured it had already changed colors if it was going too.....still will catch fish from the beach, if I even fish the beach this trip....I hate sand on everything

well going through the reels to bring, I tried the reels on the redone rod and guess what, the reel seat is too small for the calcutta 700 I was going to use on them,,,,the calcutta 400 fit, but will have to change line to a smaller braid, who I got them from thought they needed BIG braid for muskie fishing.....not sure after this, if they make the trip at all .....
I think my beach fishing will be after dark(if I can stay awake) with light and gig.....is that legal in the park beach waters? staying just down the beach from the pier this trip

looks like a full strip down and make them spinners now
