of course first course of action is to get that washer out,,let it soak in some oil for a bit and it will come out..when replacing make sure the drag stack is in correct order, if it is not then your drag will tighten during runs and lock all by itself and break off every time..

You can turn the spool upside down and get a socket that is about the same size of the hole and tap on it. There is a bushing in there and it will come out the top and push that last washer out. Clean it up then tap it back down through the top.

    Re: Help with my 706

Well all the tips were incredibly helpful. Thank you all! Got the washer out and cleaned and indeed did need to tighten the nut.

Sadly though I discovered an ever so slight rub on the spool, but only at the top of the cycle. It's Hitting the drum around it right where the manual pick up is, and only when the pickup is on the bottom of the spool (if holding it in the fishing position) and the spool is all the way out of the drum. Nothing is dented or obviously causing it - so it may indeed be that the shaft is bent.

I keep staring at the shaft trying to tell and can't decide if there is a slight bend or if my eyes are just playing tricks on me! Oh well, I guess I am going to have to get it some professional help to figure out exactly what is causing the rub.

Man, I was looking forward to using it next week too!

If the rub is at that point and the shaft doesn't look bent it could well be the rotor cup is slightly bent from an impact to the manual arm.
A light sanding inside the rotor cup behind the bail arm should eliminate the rub until it gets hit again.

    I HATE when I do that. : :-[
