I have said going pier fishing without a gaff is like going deer hunting without a drag rope. You gotta think positively!!!
Sure, if you look like these two girls you won't have any trouble getting someone to gaff your fish.
But if you are a worn out lookin, weather beatin, crusty old sea goat you better bring your own gaff!!!!

    Making pier gaff

18-19in tall, 6in tall prong with a 4in gap to the lead....weighs in a 4lb 2-3oz...pencil points and you can make them how you want from there
diameter is just under 3/8in , metric stainless rod ?

    .
    .
and that one pictured is the..... LAST
I think who has wanted them owns one already, so unless my arm is twisted, by a good friend..... I will no longer be making them ....no fun anymore
    .
might have one this fall for a king tourney prize though
thanks to ALL for the kind words!!!! and see you in a couple months

kings to almost 40lbs and cobia to almost 50lbs

Ironman, you should have numbered them...1,2,3 of however many. If you don't make any more, they could become like those pictures by that Rembrandt fella, and worth a whole bunch of money!

Nah....... as long as they get fish on the deck, that is enough for me and people like and use them
I wish I knew the original maker of that type design that John G talked about....I did improve them some (my opinion)

well I know who has the first and who will have the last one made to be sent later this week or next, didn't feel like doing anything with it today(not a good day for me after work) putting my boy(dog) down....and not sure how I will feel tomorrow....the prongs are ground, bent cleaned up and laying in the garage floor to be fit and welded, then to the basement for the lead pouring and making the rope eye....the last is getting a powder paint job

He will be missed .....Buster always loved going to the hills and cabin, along with fishing

Sorry about the loss of your friend. I know how hard it is but sometimes it is the last thing we can do for them.
