where to live?
Wife and I were down a month ago for our first visit. We are beach bums in our souls! She wants to move there when I am done with Radiology School in 2 years.... where is a good area to look for homes, in not so much touristy areas! Traffic sucks! She had a great time on the beach, and I had a great time on the pier! Even saw a mild MMA event when the big guy cut the little asian's line that was wrapping around everyone on the end! It was quite humorous! I also saw the infamous "peaches" throwing a spoon and catching kings ol skool style! If we could move tomorrow, we'd be there today!

most likely rural, so that she can tear up the countryside on her 4 wheeler.

If you want this, look to Elsanore (East Robertsdale) and Seminole, AL.
We own some property in this area and it is amazing countryside terrain for 4-wheeling, etc.
Traffic is "ultra" light, and its not too far from civilization, but makes you feel like you are.

Re: where to live?
We just moved down from Birmingham last year. We bought a place in Fairhope school district but outside of Fairhope enough to be fairly quite and rural. We are just off st rt 181 and CR 32. Puts us about 5 minutes from the Fish River launch and the Mullet Point launch. It is a bit of a long ride to the Island unfortunately, but with young kids getting them in Fairhope schools was a priority! We live in a very small subdivision (two roads) and our lot overlooks a farm field. Thomas hospital is about 10 min away along with shopping and dining in Fairhope. My only problem is the 30 or so minute ride to the interstate when I have to travel for work, small price to pay though!
Anyway hope you get to make the move, Baldwin Co is a great place to live!

I seen fish killed in Melbourne in the early 70's, we were snagging some monster fish out of the ICWW around Merrit Island. loved the fishing opportunity's as a kid there, fresh and salt water both...
