One U.S. Coast Guard crewmember is dead and three are missing following a crash of an HH-65C helicopter in Mobile Bay Tuesday evening, according to Coast Guard officials.
The search is continuing this morning in the waters off Mullet Point near Point Clear, for the three remaining crewmembers.
The crash site has been located, and the wreck is believed to be in about 13 feet of water.
Two Coast Guard cutters, the Cobia and the Stingray, are conducting the search. Area search and rescue teams and local volunteers were part of the effort Tuesday evening.
The HH-65C helicopter holds four crewmen - a pilot, a co-pilot, a flight mechanic and a flight rescue swimmer. The helicopter is used for search and rescue missions.

The Coast Guard initially said one person had been rescued but a news release issued early Wednesday said a crewmember was found unresponsive and later pronounced dead.
Debris from the crash has been brought to Brookley Field. The cause of the crash is under investigation.(RETIRED) mostly.
