Re: happiness is...
Nice job Stik, I have to wait a month before I get to go, I can't be still long enough to bow hunt. I had the good fortune to meet you and your wife at the pier in July, y'all would of loved it this weekend, the spanish bite was great.

Re: happiness is...
thanks hossfly. we would have loved to have been there for the spanish bite but when deer season opens, fishing stops. we have reservations for mid june and plan on a couple of long weekend trips this spring. hope to see you then.

Re: happiness is...
Hard to say for certain from the angle, but that deer looks young. Young with a lot of potential to become a very nice trophy. I am not suggesting not shooting him if you have the chance because sometimes a second chance won't present itself.
Again it is hard to tell for certain, this time due to the lighting, but there appears to be a well defined browse line. If this was indeed the case, I would shoot as many deer possible from this area.

Re: happiness is...
I agree, it doesn't look like an old deer. Hard to tell without seeing him from the side but those old ones get that "big" look. Pot belly and kinda puffy, etc. That's a fairly thin deer - which might be typical or where you are but this is the time of the year when they've been piling the groceries on.
Gonna go out on a limb and score him at.....hmmm. +- 130 with 17 or 18" spread and 20" mains. Nice tine length but lacks the mass to score high but a nice buck at any rate. I have one on the wall that could be his twin brother that scored 132 at 3 /12 yrs old.

he is at least 3.5. i passed him last year as a good 6pt and as a spike the year before that. he lives in the city limits behind the plant where i work. i have seen him twice this year and he is a mature deer. another view:

Re: happiness is...
He looks stockier and older there. It appears that you have a good idea where he's subject to be an hour or two after dark. The hard part is figuring out where he is the hour before dark and getting there without disturbing him. Good luck, I hope you can get him.
