Good start for deer season
Today was the best opening day of deer season I ever had---bagged a fat doe this morning and got a stud eight-point this afternoon (182 lbs which is big for a Clarke County piney woods buck). Will post a photo later.
Now, if I can just make it through Thanksgiving with the grandkids, I'll be O.K.
Happy turkey day, everybody.

Re: Good start for deer season
The closest I've got to shooting a deer so far this season, was having a doe run across the 100yard rifle range at Gun Port aka First Class Arms this afternoon. It was a beautiful day for a Range Day with the Family.

Re: Good start for deer season
Thanks, guys, the buck was a really good one in that he ran about a hundred yards after I shot him and died right by the side of a logging road. I have a pulley rigged up for the roll bar of my old Wrangler and I hoisted him right in and gave him a ride back to camp. Had to drag the doe up a steep hill (a few feet at a time, resting frequently---there's no use in me and the doe being dead at the same time out there in the woods.)

Re: Good start for deer season
it is a rarity I ever drag anything now..... unless down hill for a short ways....I have hundreds of feet of rope and many snatch blocks to help change direction of the pull with the atv if I can't just get there with it....my place is kinda steep :boohoo:....that's why I hunt on the top of it....everything is down hill :headbang:

I'm out east of Grove Hill, about 25 miles from C'ville. If you've ever heard of Orange Hill, you know where I am.

Great question Dave While we’ve got #rs attention here I’d like to know how close we are to Navarres water temp Which is where Surfline pulls there info I usually subtract 2 degrees due to the nipple...
