Repainting Cobe Jig
Want to redo my cobe jigs w/ powder paint. Question: can the jig be heated to proper temp with hair and feathers still attached or must they be removed/replaced? Thanks
Screw it. Let's ride.

Re: Repainting Cobe Jig
don't know for sure, but I don't think the wrappings would stay good in the oven at 350 degrees for 20+ minutes..... that needs to be done to bake the paint good.....strip and retie....but I could be wrong, as I am a lot....but learning :boohoo:

Re: Repainting Cobe Jig
If you wrap it really well with aluminum foil, it may protect the feathers, hair and wrappings long enough to get a good bake on the head. If I were to try this I wouldn't stray too far from the oven. The smell of smoldering hair or feathers or lack of would be a good indicator.

Thanks. I'll let you know how it comes out. Probably stop by the craft store and see what they have in the way of hair, feathers and tinsel--just in case
Or could put some loose stuff in the oven and see what happens.Screw it. Let's ride.

Re: Repainting Cobe Jig
If your wife has a stitch puller for sewing, you may be able to remove the original wrapping and save the hair and feathers to reattach. A razor blade and a steady hand might also do the trick.
